19 Rounds with...Christopher Wolford

Music editor Christopher Wolford answered 19 questions. Though it was tempting, I didn't cheat and ask the 20th.

1. Early bird or night owl?

A bit of both.

2. What was your worst haircut?

Any of them between the time my hair started thinning until the day I started buzzing it.

3. If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Yikes, that's a tough one. I would say Bright Eyes' "I Believe in Symmetry." I discover something new every time I listen to it.

4. Can you roll your tongue?

I can! I think...hold on...yes, I still can.

5. Mayonnaise: yes or no?

Always and forever. How else could I make deviled eggs then eat them all?!

6. What is your least favorite word to come across when reading a book or story?

Bro.

7. Which movie was better than the book?

At the risk of death by the hands of Tolkien fans, I'm going to say the three Lord of the Rings films.

8. What was your first concert?

I don't remember my very first one, but my first one by myself was Jack Johnson...I know, not great...but the opener was a guy named Matt Costa and he was phenomenal. I still keep up with what he's doing to this day. He just did a California Living Room tour, which I would've gladly participated in if I lived on the West coast.

9. It's Friday night. You're home alone. What did you order for dinner and what's on the TV?

Probably Indian food and an endless loop of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

10. How do you take your coffee?

Usually by filling up my tumbler when the cashier at Panera isn't watching...also with a little cream.

11. What expression do you use that most people have never heard?

Grumplestiltskin

12. What movie have you seen the most times?

Inside Llewyn Davis. Once I decide to watch it, it usually doesn't leave my player for a week.

13. What is the best thing you cook or bake?

My girlfriend says I make a mean mushroom risotto, so I'm inclined to say that.

14. Finish this sentence: More people should be reading

Francois Camoin. The guy's a master of the short form but he's always been under the radar. His collection Why Men are Afraid of Women is one of the best of the past 100 years.

15. Favorite time-waster?

Online window shopping. Mostly for clothes.

16. What's the hardest thing about writing?

Anything and everything about fiction.

17. What's the best thing about writing?

Picking a person's brain in an interview. When it's over and the interviewee has learned a little more about what makes them tick, you know you must've done something right.

18. What is your favorite sentence from a short story or poem?

Flip to any page in Jesus' Son by Denis Johnson, close your eyes, and point to a line. That's my favorite.

19. What question were you hoping to be asked?

Beatles or Stones?

****
